On your mark, get set, go!

It's that time of year again! I love Christmas time but goodness living so far from family takes its toll! I can't wait to see everyone but sometimes I wish everyone lived closer together. We will start our marathon week on Wednesday with picking up Brian and meeting his co-worker who got the girls Christmas presents. Then Thursday we are doing Christmas with our friend Stephany (who is dating my brother-in-law) and Brian is going to lunch with his co-workers from Charlotte. Friday we are going to Winston-Salem for our annual Christmas Eve party, coming home and going to another Christmas Eve party we go to every year! Saturday we are going to open up presents at home, go to the in-laws and do Christmas there and then drive to Franklin to do Christmas with my family. And last but not least we will get together on Sunday or Monday with Scott and the boys to exchange gifts between the kids! Phew! It exhausts me just thinking about it!

On a lighter note, I started off the season on the right foot. I pass both of my classes this semester with flying colors which makes me happy. And Brian will be home for 11 WHOLE DAYS!!!! I originally thinking it was 12 but then I remembered he is leaving super early on the 2nd to move up to NJ :(. I'm trying not to think about that right now though!

I am looking forward to Christmas day this year since the girls are getting bigger and understand it a bit more. Ava lets me know who's birthday it is when we ask, even though I swear it sounds like she is saying Cheezits instead of Jesus! But she is also really into Santa Claus, we didn't really push it upon her but she LOVES him. Last year we saw him once a week, this year she's gone at least 5 times! Ella on the other hand HATES him. She likes him long enough to get a candy cane from him and tell him he is doing a great job but that is it. But they are so excited about presents lol, I mean what kid isn't?

I hope everyone else has a great Christmas as well this year!

Life at it's finest...

I love that so many friends of ours have told me that if I ever need any help while Brian is gone to let them know. I am really weird about who I leave my kids with as it is but when I want a few hours or even one hour on my own I feel like I am pawning them off on people to get away. I feel horrible! So most of the time if it is something I need to do outside of the house I just take the girls with me or if it can be done at home I just wait until naptime or bedtime!

On a lighter note I'm glad that I am the one to dress Ella to actually go out! Right now she is standing here in her dress with a long sleeve shirt, her jacket on and shoes with no socks or tights. Not to mention her hair looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket since she insists her hair must be taken down while she sleeps! And Ava is running around with her dress on and her shoes on (also minus socks or tights) on the wrong feet!

I'm so excited that a week from today Brian will be home for 12 days! I can't wait to spend that much time with him. I remember when we used to take time together for granted, but not anymore, we won't have that much time together after those 12 days which is depressing, but we will make it through! We chose for him to do this outage so that we could eliminate some of our debt and it will be a really good thing for us. I keep reminding myself of that when I get depressed that he will be gone so long!

My girls

I have decided that my girls are the best free entertainment I can possibly get. Today we were out at the store (as usual) when they both said they wanted to watch Giddy Up Pooh when we got home. Like some of you reading this I was wondering, what in the world is Giddy Up Pooh? I had never heard of it. Ella pulled out the Piglet Movie and they began to watch it. The theme song comes on and says "Winnie the Pooh Winnie the Pooh..." to which my daughters were singing loudly to the same tune "Giddy up Pooh Giddy up Pooh..." I laughed so hard once I realized what Giddy Up Pooh was!

They have both been asking more about Christmas this year and I have about decided to hire a babysitter any time I need to go out. Ava asks for EVERYTHING for Christmas this year. I finally flat out told her that I was done shopping for her (which was not a lie). So now she has moved on to asking for it for her birthday. I can't say I don't admire her ambition. She will remember 98% of what she asked for too, I on the other hand will not.

I want to thank Zhu Zhu pets and my younger cousin (I'd say little but he's almost my height now!) Matthew for helping me come to the realization that my children do NOT need a hamster for a pet. First of all Ella of course is terrified of the real thing. She kept telling Matthew to put his back up when he took it out yesterday. But the Zhu Zhu pets are awesome. I have nothing to clean up or remember to feed! And if they go under the couch it isn't nearly as hard to catch them! But that is just the thing. I can just picture Ava deciding a real hamster needs to come out to play and we spend the rest of the day chasing it around the apartment to get it back in the cage!

I asked Ava the other day if she liked math and she looked at me and grinned. Then as she nodded she said "I like math! And it's like Matthew! It sounds the same!" She is so smart. And a smart aleck, but she does come by it honestly, my baby book states I was (and still am) the same way at her age! We were discussing French one day and I asked them if they could say French. Ava answered with "French...French...French Fries!" then I asked if they could say "bay" which is the pronunciation of b in French. Ava then answered with "Bay...Bay...Bacon!" Lordy, I swear all she thinks about is food (not that anyone could tell with as small as she is!).

Ella's new thing is to tell me to be nice to her when I tell her to stop doing something. I told her earlier today at the store that I was running out of patience with her and she told me "Get some more mommy. Do they have some here?" By the way we were in Hobby Lobby and no, they do not carry patience lol. I did get a good laugh out of that and couldn't stay mad at her.

But I do have to say that I love when they come in my room in the morning (regardless of the fact that the sun has just risen most days) and kiss me and rub my face until I open my eyes and say "I love you Mommy. You make me berry happy!" It makes the start of the day (too early most days) much better.
